Union:  ONA Number of vacancies:  1 New or Replacement Position:  Replacement Site:  Toronto Western Hospital Department:  Center for Mental Health Reports to:  Manager, Substance Use Disorders and Mental Health Services Wage Range:  $41.15 - $58.98 per hour (start rate is non-negotiable and in accordance with collective agreement requirements) Hours:  37.5 hours per week Shifts:  Days Status:  Permanent Full Time Closing Date:  June 4, 2026 Job Summary As a member of the UHN and the Nursing multi-disciplinary Team, the Registered Nurse practices in accordance with relevant legislation/standards, meeting the legal and ethical requirements of the profession. The principal responsibilities include:    applying knowledge of nursing science, theory, skill and critical decision making in the provision of compassionate, collaborative and competent care in accordance with the UHN Professional Practice Model for Nursing and the mission and vision of nursing at the UHN;  ensuring practice is consistent with professional standards and the ethical framework as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario and the UHN policy and procedure;  demonstrating commitment to professional life-long learning by participating in continuing education activities to meet the needs of the patient population served and the standards of the profession;  performing reflective practice, analyzing and evaluating nursing knowledge and modifying practice accordingly to improve the quality of nursing and patient care; and  performing cross-functional and other responsibilities, as assigned and/or requested.  As an integral member of  Substance Use Services division, the Registered Nurse will provide nursing and psychotherapy to patients with substance use disorders (SUDs) and related challenges. Specifically, this position will work within the  Rapid Access Addiction Medicine (RAAM) clinic and Addiction Outpatient Program (AOP) . At times, this position may also provide coverage to the Injection Clinic and Substance Use Intervention Team (SUIT) . Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario required  Minimum of two (2) years of experience in mental health and/or addiction nursing required  Skills, training, and independent experience in the controlled act of psychotherapy (e.g., CBT, DBT), counselling, and motivational interviewing required  Certification in CBT/DBT/MI required, or ability to obtain certification within 2 years of hiring  Experience working in an outpatient addiction setting preferred  Experience employing trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and equity enhancing approaches preferred   Experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment preferred  Excellent concurrent disorders assessment and intervention skills  Strong interpersonal and communication skills  Excellent organizational and time management skills  Exceptional decision making and problem-solving skills  Knowledge of community resources available to patients with concurrent disorders an asset  Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance to UHN standards   Compliance with confidentiality requirements  Basic Life Support (B.L.S.) certification  Canadian Nurses Association Certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing an asset  CPI certification in NVCI an asset In addition to working alongside some of the most talented and inspiring healthcare professionals in the world, UHN offers a wide range of benefits, programs and perks.
