Job Title: Programs Assistant Location: L’Arche Calgary Employment Type: Full-Time About the Role L’Arche Calgary is seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as Programs Assistants . In this role, you will provide direct support to persons with developmental disabilities in both our Day Program and Supported Independent Living Program (SILP). You will play a key role in supporting individuals with daily living, personal care, community participation, and skill development, while promoting independence, dignity, and inclusion. Key Responsibilities Direct Support and Care Provide personal care (e.g., hygiene, feeding, mobility, medication administration) in a respectful and person-centered manner Support individuals’ physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being Respond to verbal and non-verbal communication needs Individualized Planning and Support Implement Individual Support Plans (ISPs) and Behaviour Support Plans Support individuals in achieving personal goals and developing life skills Monitor and document changes in health, behaviour, and overall well-being Maintain accurate and timely documentation Daily Living and Life Skills Support activities such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and appointments Encourage independence, decision-making, and skill-building Assist with transportation and community access Program and Community Participation Facilitate recreational, social, and community activities Support group programming, outings, and events Promote inclusion within the community and broader society Health, Safety, and Environment Follow health and safety protocols, including medication administration and emergency response Maintain clean, safe, and organized environments Monitor and report maintenance needs Support basic vehicle care and safe transportation practices Communication and Teamwork Collaborate with families, guardians, and professionals Participate in team meetings and community events Maintain respectful and professional relationships Training and Development Complete required training (e.g., First Aid/CPR, NVCI, Abuse Prevention, WHMIS) Participate in ongoing professional development Administrative Support Complete documentation, incident reports, and program records Assist with program coordination and logistics Qualifications and Experience Post-secondary education in Disability Studies, Community Rehabilitation, or a related field (or equivalent experience) Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities is an asset Current First Aid/CPR certification Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) training (or willingness to obtain) Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (non-GDL preferred) Access to a reliable vehicle for work-related travel Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Outlook) Satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening Core Competencies Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills Commitment to inclusion, dignity, and person-centered care Ability to support individuals with complex behaviours Effective communication, organization, and documentation skills Ability to work both independently and collaboratively Sound judgment in crisis and emergency situations Why Join Us?
