If you have a passion for growth, customers and want to work in a collaborative, innovative and matrix fast-paced environment, this may be a role for you!   Reporting to Lead, Patient Engagement, the Patient Engagement Manager (PEM) is responsible for building strategic, long-term relationships with patient associations and other stakeholders, align priorities, and plan activities that impact decision makers. The person in this position works in the field and will cover Canada. Location : Ontario or Quebec.  Responsibilities  Understands patient engagement, advocacy and centricity in order to provide input within the patient journey to inform corporate & brand strategies and improve the patient experience  Build strategic, long-term relationships with patient associations to understand patients’ needs and concerns, identify stakeholders and influencers, align mutual priorities and plan activities that impact decision makers  Collaborate with people living with diseases and patient associations to identify priorities, unmet needs and develop solutions  Develop and lead a strategic, pro-active patient relations agenda to shape external issues and improve the environment in a positive way  Develop and implement advocacy strategies and action plans with specific timelines, budgets and stakeholder’s responsibilities  Develop, coordinate and implement patient-centric initiatives that will support the commercial strategies for a defined therapeutic area  Provide input/ insights on trends and opportunities during the preparation of patient strategy and brand plans  Work in collaboration with cross-functional teams to find solutions for patients   Monitor patient-related activities and report back to brand teams  Partner with Area and Global on strategic programs that are appropriate to bring to Canada  Represent AbbVie at relevant meetings; strategic patient association meetings  Drive innovation at AbbVie by identifying new ways to learn from patients and communicate patient needs to the Brand team  Serve as an expert in understanding patient associations’ strength, challenges and needs  Challenge the organization status quo and go beyond conventional boundaries – bring innovative thinking  Build strong relationships with functional leads in Marketing, Government affairs, Market Access, Public affairs, Medical affairs and other relevant functions  Ensure all written documentation, code of Practice and ACC reporting obligations are met Qualifications:  Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience  Bachelor in Communications, Nursing, Public Affairs or any other relevant discipline  Advanced proficiency in English and/or French; preference to bilingual candidates  Experience in working with patient associations  Experience in patient\stakeholder relations, market access and\or marketing.   Experience working with cross-functional teams and brand team environment is an asset  Intermediate computer & software skills (MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Outlook and Internet)  Knowledge and Key Skills:  Empathize with patients to build trusting relationships and strengthen communication channels  Use interpersonal skills to build relationships with patient organizations  Multi-task, to work concurrently with numerous stakeholders and projects  Prepare and deliver effective presentations while adapting to audience and creating links with people from diverse backgrounds  Demonstrate strategic focus in verbal and written communications. Tailor communications to meet the requirements of different stakeholders  Actively listen to stakeholders to understand their needs, issues and opinions.  Think strategically and challenge status quo  Influence decision makers. Strong interpersonal skills  Be very autonomous with strong planning skills   Manage a budget  Strong project management  Legislation and ethics for working with patients and patient associations.  Understand media and trends in communication  Understanding of provincial & federal political environment and healthcare systems  Ability to take key actions and demonstrate behavioral anchors that support all AbbVie leadership philosophy and attributes  Travel required about 20-25% of the time  Valid driver’s license and passport  AbbVie aims to offer a French-speaking workplace in Quebec and has made efforts to limit English requirements.
