Summary: Better Living Health and Community Services has an opening for Meals on Wheels Worker. This position is responsible for coordinating meal preparation, packaging, delivery, volunteer support, and food inventory management for seniors in the community. This position reports to Supervisor, Food Services
Be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment; Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigrant and Refugee Protection Act* and; Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
Enrollment in or graduation from a post-secondary program (diploma or degree) in Food Services is an asset. Experience in a food service environment is an asset. Proficient in the use of computers, including the Microsoft Office suite. Successful completion of Vulnerable Sector Screening within one month of employment.
Demonstrate high level of interpersonal skills required to succeed in a collaborative, team-oriented working environment. Demonstrate ability to work through customer issues to achieve a desired outcome. Adapt and change accordingly to plans and circumstances proactively. Ability to work independently and in a high volume team environment. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a supportive manner Strong documentation skills. Experience with documentation and strong written and verbal communication skills KEY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Position Specific Ensures hot meals prepared and packed to be delivered to seniors in the Community Ability to manage multiple administrative responsibilities through strong organizational, prioritization and time management skills Communicates with clients and utilizes the client database to document changes Ability to effectively utilize multiple electronic Client records to support the delivery of care Supports volunteers for the daily delivery Ensures organization and correct storage of frozen product Prepares orders for food source Takes on other duties as assigned by the Manager, Food Services Assists in the planning, monitoring and ordering of food inventory KEY ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Provide services in keeping with the organization’s Mission, Vision and Beliefs and Resident Declaration of Values. Adhere to the principles and expectations outlined in the Code of Conduct. Adhere to the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA 2010) as outlined in the organization privacy policies and procedures. Perform the functions of job description in compliance with the Health and Safety practices of the organization and in accordance with the provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act. Participate in the continuous quality improvement activities of the organization in order to advance a culture of quality and support ongoing compliance with CARF Accreditation standards. Salary: $18.60 per hour Start date- July 6, 2026 Note: This position is funded for 35 hours in total. Hours of work and duration of position will be determined based on the needs of the department.
