The Material Management Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective flow of materials within the organization, directly impacting production timelines and overall operational success. This position is responsible for overseeing inventory control, procurement processes, and the coordination of material logistics to meet project and production demands. The specialist will collaborate closely with suppliers, warehouse teams, and production departments to maintain optimal stock levels and minimize delays. By analyzing material usage trends and forecasting future needs, the role supports cost reduction initiatives and continuous improvement efforts. Ultimately, the Material Management Specialist ensures that the right materials are available at the right time and place, contributing to seamless operations and customer satisfaction. Roles and Responsibilities will Include: Manage and monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate supply without overstocking. Coordinate procurement activities, including supplier selection, purchase orders, and delivery schedules. Collaborate with production and warehouse teams to align material availability with operational requirements. Analyze material usage data to forecast demand and identify opportunities for cost savings. Maintain accurate records of material transactions and prepare regular reports on inventory status. Implement and improve material management processes to enhance efficiency and reduce waste. Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements related to material handling and storage. An Ideal Candidate will Possess: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in material management, inventory control, or procurement. Track and manage inventory to meet production schedules while avoiding excess costs. Use strong communication and organizational skills to collaborate with suppliers and internal teams and resolve material issues promptly. Apply inventory management software and ERP proficiency for accurate data entry, reporting, analysis, forecasting, and decision-making. Leverage supply chain certifications and regulatory knowledge to optimize processes and maintain compliance. Contribute to operational excellence and continuous improvement. Proficiency with inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong understanding of supply chain principles and material flow processes. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., APICS CPIM or CSCP). Experience working within manufacturing or industrial environments. Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle. Knowledge of Canadian import/export regulations and customs procedures. Demonstrated ability to lead process improvement initiatives.
