CREW SCHEDULER Nanaimo The opportunity The C rew S cheduler ensure s that Scheduling S ervices meets operational requirements and company objectives in accordance with operational policies, the collective agreement and regulatory requirements for vessels and shore positions. The Role Reporting to the Manager, Scheduling Services, you will perform the following duties: Handl ing short term absence and replacement requests to ensure that crewing profiles and terminal staff allocations are met in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Ensur ing operational, regulatory and collective agreement compliance and by analysing work assignments and scheduling for optimum utilization of staff in a cost-effective manner . Implement ing schedules and staff assignments prepared by crewing officers/advisor and cross checking as required . Generat ing and control ling time sheets and crew list s accurately and on time . Maintain ing superior customer service skills and positive relationships in communication with employees and in resolving problems and issues. Undertak ing longer term planning functions in support of leave programs . M onitor ing and forecast ing needs to prepare accurate schedules for implementation monthly . What you bring to the team Education and Experience High School Diploma supplemented by some post-secondary education Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel 1-3 years of office experience preferably in a complex unionized environment Experience with staff scheduling systems , accounting systems or Human Resources would be an asset Knowledge and Competencies Strives for continuous improvement in Customer Services Maintains positive relationships with employee and co-workers Ab le to work independently with limited or no supervision Demonstrates creative thinking and innovat e action , often under pressure while meeting deadlines Possesses s ound analytical skills and problem-solving skills Flexible, detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment Has a thorough understanding of, or the ability to learn , company, regulatory and collective agreement rules and requirements J oin us! The starting salary is determined based on the successful candidate’s knowledge, experience and internal equity. Starting salary may exceed the target range on exceptional basis.
