Position Title:  Community Coordinator, NS (CSJ Funded) Location: Halifax, NS Reports To: Program Lead, Children & Youth  Anticipated Start Date:  June 8 th , 2026 Contract Ends: August 28 th , 2026 Wage:  $16.75/hour I. Essential Functions The position entails, but is not limited to the following general responsibilities: Volunteer Recruitment and Engagement Create promotional materials and social media content to promote volunteer opportunities Assist with screening applications, conducting interviews, and completing reference checks Track volunteer hours, contributions, and impact using CNIB's volunteer management system Community Outreach and Partnership Development Represent CNIB at community events, resource fairs, and networking opportunities Deliver presentations about CNIB programs and services to community organizations Program Support and Coordination Coordinate event logistics including venue booking, materials preparation, and registration  Provide administrative support including scheduling, communications, and documentation Support participants during activities, ensuring accessibility and inclusion Collect feedback from volunteers and community members to inform program improvements Database Management and Reporting  Maintain accurate records in CNIB's volunteer and community engagement databases Enter and update volunteer profiles, contact information, and participation data Document success stories and testimonials from volunteers and community partners Additional Responsibilities Attend team meetings and contribute ideas for program improvement Assist with procurement of program supplies and materials as needed Support other CNIB programs and initiatives as required Participate in professional development opportunities and training sessions The duties and responsibilities outlined above are indicative of the role, but aren’t exhaustive and may be subject to change as required. III. Qualifications What do you bring to the table? Excellent verbal and written communication and superior interpersonal skills Portray the appropriate professional image An active member in the blindness community (ideally) Strong proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications Excellent organizational and planning skills to work to concurrent and/or conflicting deadlines Highly flexible and able to respond to new tasks Experience and Education Currently enrolled in or recently completed post-secondary education in social work, community development, non-profit management, communications, business, or related field Experience in developing and delivering presentations Experience with database management or CRM systems Experience developing events or programs for youth or seniors is preferred Work Environment This position will be based from the CNIB Office in Halifax with occasional work from home days and community visits.  This position will be 35 hours per week; you must be willing to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends for events.
