THE OPPORTUNITY Ram Iron & Metal is looking for an experienced and driven Truck Mechanic to join our Team. The Truck Mechanic , under the direction of the Lead Hand, Service Maintenance will primarily be responsible for diagnosing and performing all the preventative maintenance and repairs on our diesel trucks and trailers. OVERVIEW The Truck Mechanic must be able to exhibit exceptional attention to detail, physical dexterity, and commitment to safety protocols. The Truck Mechanic will be exposed to a wide variety of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues and must be able to carry out and provide effective repair solutions to our trucks and trailers. RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITES Diagnose and repair diesel trucks and trailers including hydraulics, brakes, engines, transmissions, tires, alignment, replace pumps, valves, oil, lights, filters, and parts. Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty trucks and trailers; this may include performing body and glass repairs as needed. Troubleshoot and inspect trucks and trailers to detect any faults and malfunctions. Clean vehicle body and engines as necessary to ensure the facilitation of repairs. Install decals, place mats and safety devices of supplies as necessary (i.e., first aid kit, extinguisher, spill kit). Complete and maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs of trucks serviced. Maintain inventory list of parts in stock and required for purchase. Coordinate with Maintenance Manager and Parts Runner to order necessary parts needed for scheduled maintenance and ensure there is availability for the repairs and maintenance. Operate welding equipment, as necessary. Ability to interpret technical manuals and diagrams to facilitate efficient repairs. Participate in training sessions as required. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols during all repair and maintenance activities. Collaborate with other team members to prioritize and execute repair tasks efficiently. Maintain a clean and organized workspace to enhance productivity and safety. Perform other related duties as required, not limited to responsibilities listed above. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Minimum of two (2) to five (5) years of truck mechanic experience. Valid 310T Truck and Coach License required. Valid G Driver’s License. Experience with Kenworth, MACK, Peterbilt Luggers, Roll Offs and Tractors is an asset. There may be frequent interruptions, and from time to time be noisy. The employee must have knowledge of how to manage their own personal safety under these conditions. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to be able to lift up to and including 50lbs, sit and/or stand for extended periods of time and reach with arms/hands. Walking, walking up/down stairs, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving items is occasionally required.
